Hi, I am Matt, a french advertising creative living in Paris.
I am a jealous, stubborn, and obsessive sore loser.
I think this is what makes me not too bad at my job.
I was born in 1988, I have been working for advertising agencies since 2012, and as a creative since 2016. I am currently working at BETC Paris as a Creative Director.
One of my previous bosses was unhappy when I told him I was quitting, so to punish me, he let me sit idle for 3 months (due to France’s notice period) with nothing to do, back when remote work wasn’t an option. Fortunately, I had access to the Cannes Lions archive, so I spent 9 hours a day, for 92 days (minus weekends), browsing it and taking notes. Crunching ad shows winners became a habit and a hobby over the past 10 years, so I feel confident enough to call myself an Ad Nerd (plus, I've got a tweet from Anselmo Ramos who seems to think so too).
I have been lucky enough to work on ideas that ended on the front page of reddit, some that won gold at awards shows, some that went into in the hands of millions of French people, others that involved a President, or convinced Midjourney's employees to change their AI dataset, and even one that made FIFA accept a new international team.
My work has been featured in The Guardian, El País, The New York Times, CNN, the BBC, Dezeen, and many more.
I've also been invited to judge the work of my peers on several occasions, the most recent ones being as part of the Cannes Lions 2025 Outdoor Jury, the D&AD New Blood 2025 Jury, the Kyiv International Advertising Festival (KIAF) 2025 and the Madstars Awards 2024 & 2025.
I am eager to see what's coming next!
